Arróniz emerged from a particular interest to work with a new generation of artists from Mexico and Latin America. Our main drive is to support and closely follow the careers of our artists both locally and internationally. A key element to our labor are the multiple exchanges with other galleries from other countries and participation in art fairs around the world.

Our local program is composed by exhibitions of our represented artists, and a parallel presentation in the projects room where a specific piece or project –created with the space in mind– is showed. This allows us to expand our cultural offer to new audiences while working in collaboration with other artists, curators and institutions.

Was founded in April 1996 in order to promote contemporary approaches to nonrepresentational art. Within this field the gallery’s main focus is on new European, North-American and Latin-American tendencies in painting, drawing, sculpture and installation work based on the traditions of constructivist, minimal and concrete art. Apart from geometric abstraction and its restatement by young post-minimalist and conceptual artists we also show experimental photography and a quite substantial range of what one may call organic abstraction as opposed to geometric. The gallery’s particular passion is painting and colour in all their variety of aspects.

Nieves Fernández opened Yerba in 1977. Originally located in Murcia, the gallery begun its path as a center for cultural and political debate exhibition the main actors of the contemporary art scene, both national and international, realizing a publishing work, collaborating with institutions as the Banco Exterior de España or curating the Telefónica Collection.

In 1988 the gallery moved to Madrid where it continued its path under the name of NF/ NIEVES FERNÁNDEZ. In a global world, where galleries don’t represent a region anymore, but a way of looking at the world, NF/NIEVES FERNÁNDEZ, currently directed by Idoia Fernández and Nerea Fernández, develops a work that rethinks itself within the narrative of the contemporary arts debate, generating new spaces of understanding.

Interested in reality and not only in the formal aspects of that reality, artists make proposals that, through aesthetic reformulation, break strong judgements challenging human imagination and acting as social consciousness.

More than a space for contemplation, the gallery should be a place opened to criticism and debate, where artists¨ creativity is a priority that produces activities which encourage dialogue.

With the intention of being an active part of our time, and continue with this that, without any doubt, is more than a profession, we celebrate the 40th anniversary of the gallery, expressing our gratitude to all who have been part of this fascinating project, especially the artists, and making a toast for many more years to come.

Nueveochenta opened its doors in March 2007 as a space dedicated to the diffusion of contemporary Latin American art, maintaining special emphasis on the plastic and commercial consolidation of a group of artists at both a local and international level. In addition, it seeks to expand its reach through links with major international galleries for the exchange of artists and proposals.

The gallery includes additional projects, such as interventions in The Patio and exhibitions in the Projects Room – two spaces in which artists who are not represented by the gallery are able to present their work. In its physical space, the gallery also incorporates a Shop and Documentation Centre, which are open to members of the public interested in serial works of contemporary art or texts about the history and theory of art.

The project aims to maintain the basic roles of a gallery and understands that accompanying the careers of the represented artists is a very important mission, as is the role of the space as a generator of tools for the consolidation of their proposals.
